Abstract:
Over the past 20 years, the surgical therapy of breast cancer has experienced a substantial transformation, with the prevalence of oncoplastic breast surgery. Breast cancer surgery is primarily intended to achieve a sufficient oncological safety margin. Moreover, the aesthetic result appears to be significant for quality of life and social and psychological well-being. Following breast conservation surgery, volume replacement or displacement procedures may be used to restore the surviving breast. Depending on where the tumor is located, the right surgical approaches might be chosen to provide a better cosmetic result.
