Abstract:
Aim: To evaluate the role of Xantinol Nicotinate in chronic lower limb ischemia with the help of Doppler, ABPI and clinical scoring.
Materials and Methods: The present observational analytical study, which took place between November 2022 and March 2024 in the department of surgery at Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospital. Study participants included all patients with chronic limb ischemia who appeared in Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospital during duration of study and patients with all age and both sex who presented with chronic limb ischemia. Chronic limb ischemia patients came to OPD, detailed history and investigations were done to make certain diagnosis. Risk factors were identified. Management strategies were planned and given which included life style modifications, exercise, treatment for risk factors, medical management and surgical intervention if required.
Results: Maximum patients complained of involvement of right lower limb (59%) and (41%) in left lower limb. Maximum subjects were smokers (82%), followed by diabetes mellitus (71%), followed by hypertension (25%), tobacco chewing (15%), followed by hyperlipidemia (10%). Study shows improvement in claudication distance after 3 months at the early stages of disease. It is seen there is positive change in the ABPI of patients after taking Xantinol Nicotinate. It is seen that there is positive change in the ABPI of patients after taking Xantinol Nicotinate.
Conclusion: Study includes 39 patients, where total number of males affected by the disease were more as compared to females. Maximum patients complained of right lower limb involvement. The study shows improvement in claudication distance seen after 3 months at the early stages of life. Clinical improvement seen in the study population who were complaint with the medical treatment.
