Abstract:

Background:  Hirschsprung Disease is a common congenital disorder presenting with functional obstruction due to aganglionosis of the colon both submucosal plexus (Meissner) and Myentric plexus (Auerbach). The principles of the operation are to remove the aganglionic colon and connect the normally innervated bowel just above the anus, at a level which prevents further functional obstruction. Even though there are multiple procedures for treating Hirschsprung Disease with good outcome, complications after surgery still could happened. This study is comparing early complications between Modified Duhamel and Transanal Endorectal Pullthrough.
Methods:  Analytical observational with a retrospective cohort study design on 60 samples of Hirschsprung Disease patients treated with Modified Duhamel Procedure and TEPT procedure at General Hospital Dr. M. Djamil Padang. All data were analyzed using SPSS 30.0, p-value <0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Result:  Age mean in group of patients treated with Duhamel Procedures is bigger than TEPT group. There are post-operative wound infection and anastomosis leakage incidence in both group, but not as significant.
Conclusion: There is no difference in post-operative early complications between Modified Duhamel and TEPT.
